Profile & Account Settings
How do I update my name or email address?
Go to Dashboard → Profile. You can update your display name at any time. To change your email address, enter the new address and click Save — a verification email will be sent to the new address. Your old email remains active until the new one is verified.
How do I change my password?
Go to Dashboard → Profile → Security and click 'Change Password'. You will need to enter your current password to confirm the change. If you have forgotten your password, use the 'Forgot Password' link on the login page.
Can I link my Google or GitHub account?
Yes. Go to Dashboard → Profile → Connected Accounts. You can link Google and GitHub accounts for faster sign-in. Once linked, you can sign in using either your email/password or your social account.
Security
How do I enable two-factor authentication (2FA)?
Go to Dashboard → Profile → Security and click 'Enable Two-Factor Authentication'. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password). Save your backup codes in a secure location — they are the only way to recover access if you lose your authenticator device.
What should I do if I suspect my account has been compromised?
Immediately change your password, revoke all API keys, and review your active sessions. Go to Dashboard → Profile → Security → Active Sessions and click 'Revoke All'. Then contact [email protected] so we can investigate any suspicious activity.
How do I view and manage active login sessions?
Go to Dashboard → Profile → Security → Active Sessions. You can see all devices currently logged in, including their IP address, location, and last activity time. Click 'Revoke' next to any session you don't recognise.
Email & Notifications
What emails will I receive from LightYear Cloud?
You will receive: account security alerts (new login, password change), billing notifications (invoice ready, payment failed), server alerts (high CPU, low disk), and optional product updates and announcements. You can manage these preferences in your profile settings.
How do I unsubscribe from marketing emails?
Click 'Unsubscribe' at the bottom of any marketing email, or go to Dashboard → Profile → Notifications and disable 'Product updates and announcements'. Transactional emails (billing, security alerts) cannot be disabled as they are required for account operation.
Team accounts are available on Business and Enterprise plans. Team members can be assigned roles (Admin, Developer, Billing) with different permission levels. Go to Dashboard → Access Control → Team Members to invite colleagues.
What permissions do different roles have?
Admin: full access to all resources and settings. Developer: can create, manage, and destroy servers and storage, but cannot access billing or invite team members. Billing: read-only access to invoices and payment methods only. Custom roles are available on Enterprise plans.
How do I remove a team member?
Go to Dashboard → Access Control → Team Members, find the member you want to remove, and click 'Remove'. Their access is revoked immediately. Any API keys they created under the team account will also be revoked.
Closing Your Account
How do I delete my account?
Before closing your account, you must destroy all active resources and ensure your balance is zero. Then go to Dashboard → Profile → Danger Zone and click 'Delete Account'. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
What happens to my data when I close my account?
All your servers, snapshots, and stored data will be permanently deleted. Your billing history and invoices are retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations, but are not accessible after account deletion. Download any invoices you need before closing.
Can I reopen a closed account?
Closed accounts cannot be reopened. You can create a new account with the same email address, but your previous servers, snapshots, and billing history will not be available.
